Hi,
Please post your suggestion regard applicability of ESI to construction workers working at site, as per my knowledge ESI not applicable to construction workers working at site but some ESI inspector saying that ESI applicable to some site workers also i.e. who are work for painting, electrician etc.

Dear Hr Professional,
first you need to check that whether That GIDC area is under covered with Area or not. And ESi Limit is Gross Salary of Rs 15,000 so it has to be deducted from your said amount.

For the present ESI Act is not applicable to the Construction workers engaged in construction of new buildings projects etc. However the Construction Firm which is employing 20 or more persons (presently it is 10 ) in their Office is coverable under the ESI Act provided the firm is located in an implemented area . The coverage limit is Rs. 15000 with effect from 1-5-2010

Dear All,
Basic concept for coverage of esic are as follows
1. Whether area of factory come under esic coverable area.
2.esic is applicable to employees having gross salary less than 15000.00
3. Manager category is excluded from esic.
4. Apart from employees salary any thing given in cash or kind is consider as salary or wages.
