Can do antecedent verification of the employee from his previous employer or through verification agency and can take action as per company policy.

Thanks Ravinder. We have started a process of doing reference check for the new joinees. Could you suggest me more to avoid these kind of discrepancies at the time of shortlisting the candidate.
Dear Sasihr06
there is no fool proof methods of eliminating such incidents, these are result of desperate or helpless or unethical minds, depending on the situation. understand the real situation why candidate faked such documents. there are many possibilities.
Candidate may be a genuine person, sometimes company management is nasty and they dont issue relieving letter, due to which out of desperation or helplessness, candidates resort to creating such fake letters. So as long as they can establish the work experience tenure with other authentic supporting documents, you may consider them, however this depends on your company policy too, Im just suggesting.
Also during the screening process inform the candidate that any documents faked will be found out in reference checks, that will cause legal action, immediate dismissal and black listing. hopeully this should deter unethical minds.
Maintain a checklist of standard documents, and ensure you collect them before offer is given. finish necessary reference checks as interview processes is going on.
You can also request candidate to submit salary certificate (included with details of employment) from the current employer. candidate can appraoch HR or accounting department to get salary certificate which shall mention employment tenure, jobtitle and monthly salary package, candidate can give an excuse for loan purposes etc. A genuine candidate would be willing to provide this document.

Dear Sasi
After passing through the Interview process and Medical Test, the Background Verification Check must be completed, so that the Offer Letter may be issued only to those who successfully cleared their Background Verification Check. After joining the company it is very difficult either for management or for the candidate to face the problem.
As stated by Mr. Husain Zulfikar you can ask them to provide the Salary Certificate or their Pay slip and it can be considered as a proof of their employment in that company, which can be verified with his salary account deposit amount. The Pay slip nett amount and Bank account Statement for credit of salary can be matched for checking his employment in that company in which, Pan No., PF No., Designation, Salary Package and other relevant details will be there.
With that PF no. You can do cross check the balance and trace out the Basic of the individual and any wrong thing can easily be identified.

Hi Hussain Zulfikar,
Thank you so much. As you suggested, I would verify their documents in the interview process itself . I would give a prior intimation to the candidates that, if any forged documents found at the time of reference check, as per our company policy , we will do the necessary actions
Thanks again

Dear Sasi,
Past employment verification is the best solution to the problem of forged documents. Verify work history of your candidates before hiring them to ensure what's mentioned on their resume is true and they are presenting genuine documents to you.
Today, a large number of online past employment verification tools are available which accelerate and simply the verification process. I personally use Verified Resources. It helps verify candidate details including work experience, last withdrawn salary, status of exit formalities, and whether the notice period was served or not.

You can start using this tool and stop your potential employees from deceiving you.
