Can one learn swimming from a swimming manual without plunging into the pool ever?

Recent years have placed heavy emphasis on the importance of ensuring that learners do something other than listen and watch while in class. The central question is: “Do the learners learn anything by at all by merely listening and watching?” The answer would be “No-nothing that carries over with them into improved on-the-job performance.”

Learning design has now moved into participatory types of learning experience. Training professionals need to experience practical situations which actually occur in facilitation and related processes if it is to make a positive impact on their future. The word “experience” implies that the learners must experience something during the learning if their performance is to be altered in a positive manner after the training ends.

The good news is that there is huge demand for trainers who can design their training to suit the needs of different types of participants and at various levels/roles/responsibilities with the appropriate learning experiences.

If you wish to gain an in-depth insight into all aspects of designing a behavioural training and bring out the relevant performances in the training design along with a host of other benefits, enroll for an exclusive Certification in Behavioural Training Design from March 18th - 22nd 2011 in Mumbai. For more details, you can call us on 0-9901983544.

Dear Sampada
Appreciating your concern to post this thought.
I feel any learning based activity or process needs a commitment of change. A process that cant bring a change [Post] wont be considered as fruitful. It is something that telling Grass not be Green or telling Rock not be hard.
It is said that Learning fly's on the wings of change. So to the continuation of this post I must adhere on the practices that post implementation of the any activity of process should be monitored for timely action and for any development.
Sampada, I will be delighted to read your comments further.
