Dear all, I just want to know the maximum age of retirement in manufacturing industry.

It is usually 58 years. It also depends on the policies and practices of the company. If it is central
govt it is 60 years. In Karnataka the state govt is also following the same criteria of 60 years of employees age, before two years it was 58 years.

Hi...
The maximum age of retirement in Manufacturing industries are classifed in two categories i.e, the nature of work involved more manual and the nature of work involved less manual.
If the nature of work involved more manual, generally it will be 58 yrs and even in some industries the reitrement age is 55 only. However in any case the retirement age is based on either Standing orders of the company and/or Service condition (Appointment Order) of the company.
In other cases it is only 58 years.
Moreover, the definition in various labour laws, the retirement age is 58 only.
Very importantly, the eligible for availing full pension under EPF act is 58 yrs.

If Prime Minister of India can work so hard even at his current age, retire an employee based on his suitability for the post deployed. Not on age.

Dear friends, The retirement age is 58 years as per EPF Act. Our company is a 160 years old German MNC and there the retiring age is 65 years. We have adopted the same model here and we have been given green signal by the authorities on this.

It is normally 58 years. We also adopt the same in our organization. And it is the company's discretion to have then for 60 years of age or 65. However, as far as PF regulation is concerned, 58 Years of age is taken into consideration as retirement age.

Dear tsilbrd,
Yes it is 58 as stated in Employee's Pension Scheme, as well various state amendments, but in maharashtra by virtue of standing orders act the age of retirement is 60.
Secondly, there is no bar to work beyond the age of retirement by any law, if the persons health supports he can work upto his death too.
