MIS stands for managment information system. So at any point of time I want to understand or analyse the organisation standing it should be represented in a data format.
There can be many reports like Current employee details report; head count summar report; attrition report; payroll report; Employee turn over report etc. So it majorly depend on the industry your working with and accordingly these reports need to modified as per the managment information needs.

Lets make it simple. Anything and everything (reports) that provides information and help having enough data to take decision on any matter related to the company (management) comes under the domain of MIS (Management Information System). Type of reports can range from just time card entry till complex statistical calculation of all possible revenue generating channels.
There is no pre-defined format of an MIS report and can be created and re-created depending upon the requirement of the company and all the parties concerned. Thats what makes it really diverse and complex at the same time.
