Hi Eveyone.
I'd like to know if 1 year Ph.D is available in India. My friend is an MBA graduate and is a HRD Trainer and Counselor. He specializes in Soft Skills Training. As he cannot spare whole 2 years on studying and research, he wants to know if a 1 year Ph.D program is available in India. He does not hold an M.Phil degree. He has guided quite a few MBA, M.Phil and also Ph.D scholars during their period of study.
It would be very helpful if you could shed light on this.

Hi Surekha,
No its not possible in 1 year or even not valid as the regular one.
In India a Masters degree is required to gain admission to a doctoral program.
In some subjects, doing a Masters in Philosophy (M.Phil) is a prerequisite to start PhD.
In some prestigious universities it is required to qualify the all India level examination such as ‘National Eligibility Test for Lectureship (NET) conducted by ‘University Grants Commission’ (UGC), Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). These selected candidates, based on their performance in the above examinations, are awarded scholarships in the form of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for first two years of PhD followed by the Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) for the next two/three years.
Hope its helpful or visit some sites in Google for more in detail...
