Dear Chandra Bhushan.
can you arrange the following things for the motivation of your mid aged employees:
1. at mid age generally everybody becomes more practical and concern for more money and for future safety. try to arrange monitory incentives for the assignments they have finished and it can be arranged quarterly.
2. declare the best worker of the month and put his name displayed in the office notice board for the next whole month till the second name appears. boss should have a cup of coffee with him one day. if someone is best worker for consecutive 3 months office can offer him a 7/8 days leave.
3. arrange study insurances for the kids of office employees and declare that your office will have a 5% job placement for the children of your office staffs.
these can be helpful. infact the mid aged staffs does not move with any fantasy rather they are more practical about the reality of the world. thats why the general motivating tools do not work much with them. they bear a different look to the world.
thanks.

Everybody can never have the same needs. Some people also look for adventure and change in mid age like Sanjeev Roy who was featured in ETEMPOWER of economic times as wanting a transiton from advertising to HR- http://www.bullzi-inc.com/
Take a look at the life of this man. After 25 years in the same job, he wants a change:-

Dear friend I wish to add following comments for MRS sastry
Inhibitions are due to their experience and age . Even in Govt dept also job security is fading. I am working in PSU. Even though there are many labour friendly laws they are seldom used by individual employees and unions are also not strong. In earlier years boss used to look into welfare of employees by giving suitable posting/placement for hardworking honest employees. Now the mindset of bosses/officials have also changed . Narrowminded, corrupt. favourism, nepostism bossess numbers are more now than ever before. bossess with these mentalities favours only with those of mentalities. That is why employees in the mid age develop a habit of save my skin attitude, never prepare to take risk/try a new idea, sit in cocoon.
