You need to execute the following steps for your query-
A. Intimate your IT Department to block those site. Including the proxy ones.
B. Disable services like- GTalk, Yahoo Chat, Orkut, Youtube or any time consuming social service websites.
C. Keep tab on the log of the user id of your employees. Circulate the log data to every employee.

Hi Sapna,
15/12 gives you 1.25. Multiply 1.25 by the no of months the employee has served in the current leave year. Most IT companies make it LOP only if the emp exceeds his annual quota, or if he resigns midway through the year. You can also ask your payroll dept for help.

Even I am interested in this. I am working with a consulting firm of about 500 engineers where I have found people misusing the internet facility to a great extent. The system administrators have been asked to block certain websites but it has not given desired results. Can someone suggest some measures.
Thanks in advance.

In the absence of any facts & figures, it is difficult to decide whether or not the internet usage is actually in excess. There are studies that indicate that surfing the web for your personal interests can boost productivity without adversely affecting the production levels provided employees do not spend more than 20% of work hours in such activities. While trying to formulate some policy on this subject, employers must take care that they do not end up in creating a workplace that is too stifling and too suffocating for creativity to flourish.

Dear Sapna,
Develop IT policy for your organization which is need of the hour for controlling the usage rate of internet. And introduce authenticated entry to internet where in the history of an individual is available.

i do feel that internet is the best stress reliever especially when you work continuously with formulas, caluculations etc. etc. To surf net is better way than to go out for smoke or spending time in canteen. Of course downloading movies, songs is not a good idea. Restricting those sites can solve the problem in a better way.

I agree with Navjotgill & Jayshree. Surfing a net plays a role of stree reliever at times. To keep a check all the time is not a good idea. However, sites that are considered useless subject to time wastage, should be blocked.
