Dear Shivani
You have not given us any idea about our educational qualifications, nor have you given any information on the span of your experience, so it difficult to advise you on what would be a better career option for you; looking into the future prospects.
How long have you been working as Placement Coordinator ?
Is the Institute a reputed one? With good all-India ranking ??
You can continue, if you are comfortable and you can grow in Academic environment.
On the other hand, if EA job is paying well and is with a leading brand; you can switch.
But remember, EA is generally a dead-end job, as far as career progression is concerned. It does give a tremendous learning opportunities on one hand and the aura of power on the other hand. Working hours are long and tedious.
You should not continue for long in this designation/role, if you are looking for career progression and growth.
Hope the above information is of help to you.
Warm regards.

Hi Shivani,
Executive Assistant wont offer your growth in relative short years but talking of long term when you understand the nitties and gritties of the job and you can diversify but it normally takes longer years for that growth...I have seen EAs who are currently working as GMs in the Telecom Sector..email me which company are you joining would be in a better position to guide you on the culture and organisation at gaggan underscore sahni at the rate hotmail dot com.....Remember experience plus qualification leads to growth and if one of them is missing its a bit challenging.....

HI
I wanted to ask , what all profiles an EA can switch to after being in industry for a few years?
I have been working as EA for last 5 years in best of India, telecom companies and MNC's.I do understand that one can go in till becoming GM or VP of departments, please specify what all options can one take over. No generalistic suggestionsplease....
I do not see bright future ahead as the work tends to get repetetaive with less monetary growth. Please guide me through as i am currently looking out for a change in job. Regards

Hello Experts
I am an MBA Graduate ( INSURANCE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT) from Birla Institute of Management Technology ( one of India's Top 25 B-SCHOOL). I wished to enter in Underwriting department in an Insurance Co., However I landed up as an Executive Assistant to Vice President in Shriram General Insurance Co. But here I don't see any growth in terms of salary. Switching to other organisation as an Executive Assistant can give me a good salary but I think the profile of EA is a dead-end profile, I mean can I grow to higher positions ??? Please guide.....
