Hi,

I have a problem and I want all you to provide a solution for this.

I run a consultancy also, it is actually registered on my father's name, we provide consultancy in the field of training, competency, career management etc.

Through this forum I generelly receive mails from almost 6-7 members everyday for help in some or the other matter and I do help them almost for all their queries.

I received a similar mail from a lady who is also a member from UAE, she asked for my help and because she wanted me to work on the complete career graph, designing competencies and helping her get a job.

I worked with her without any agreement, but yes we exchanged mail that she will be paying me a fees which I generally charge from all our clients, plus we offerd her some discount as she was a member of this forum. The whole project took almost three weeks to work on, and she was selected for the job. :)

All this happened in September, and till date she has not paid even a single penny for the work. Although the amount was small so I did not take any action till date and I was just sending her mails as reminders, but now I want to teach her a lesson so that she should not do this with anyone.

I'm at loss as I helped her on pure trust. :(

Tell me what to do??????

Regards

Archna

hi! Archana
Teach her lesson how can she do dis with anyone who is helping hand for herself. As i didnt get properly the matter between u and her so I cant suggest you something gud but if u have any sources inside that organistion in which she is working then mail her at official mail id and try to inform her co-workers or her bosses. You have her contact no. then call her directly.

Preeti.

Hi Preeti,
I have send her plent of mails but of no use, she has a standard answer all the time that she was travelling so she could not send the money.
I had her contact number, ut few days back I lost my cellphone and with that all the contact details are gone now.
You call it misfortune or anything, but I don't have anything I accept her mails where she has written she will pay the amount.
Thanks for your mail
Cheers

Hi Preeti,
Thanks for the mail.
The matter between her and me was simple, she asked me to work on her career mapping and competencies for the job she has with Intercontinental group of Hotels.
I helped her make all the things and then when the time came to pay up, she simply vanished. I wrote her mails but of no use as she would make some or the other excuse. All my colleagues asked me not to help anyone outside country without a proper agreement, but I went ahead simply on TRUST.
I had her cellno. but unfortunately, I lost my cell and all the contact numbers as well.
I have no clue how to teach her a lesson.

Archna,
I have a suggestion.
(1) Now you mail her/him to state you have another REVISED details that you would like to share.
also frame words as if to make her feel you consider the earlier deal as a sample or trail run.
(2) You could try with your mobile service operator (rpg,hutch,airtel...) to provide you the list of calls you had made/recieved and if lucky in obtaining it, you try to reach her from any phone.
on doing both one think is common, you put your money.
keep a try, and you would find ways handle these things a better way next time.

Hi,

It is SAD that some people betray trust.

If I were you, I will simply write this off as a bad debt and forget the entire episode. I would not have lost my competence-only money and that too not substantial!

If the subject person is happy in cheating others even for small amounts, let the person make merry in cheap thrills.

By teaching lessons to others, I lessen myself. That is my view!!

But yes, I would certainly write to her about my disappointment in her behaviour and would infrom her that I do not wish to deal with her in future and that she should NOT treat any one else like this for her own good.

As you sow so shall you reap. If she has sown seeds of misbehaviour, I am sure she will also get treated the same way by others-I don't have to ill treat anyone.

My sense of dignity, self respect and morality does not allow me to scoop down to her levels.

Now whether to write to her on this forum or personally is strictly your choice, but I would seggest that you write to her privately and make your mind known!

Archna...
I don't think much can be done in this particular case. Just learn from your experience and be careful in future dealings.
Like you, I also have consultancy and provide strategic, process oriented, business related, career planning and content management related services. But, I am very fair in my dealing. I charge 25% of my fee at the beginning, another 50% after the completion of 75% of task and balance after the completion of total task.
Yes, you can write a mail to her expressing your displeasure on this transation. Stay in touch with her and in future if she come to you for any assistance, do charge her for this transaction as well.
I hope this will help.

Hello Samvedan ji,
Thanks for the mail.
Its not the matter of money anymore, I have written in the post, it is not the amount I will go after and I write her mails just twice a month or something, but I was just thinking that I should teach her a lesson she should remember all her life.
I have no intentions of writing her mail through this forum, that's the reason I did not write her name also. I do not want to go to her level. :D
I have written her all the mails, just wanted to take some advice from all the seniors.
Thank you for your help

Hi Archna,
I was little bit late in catching up with your problem. Frank enough, you are too good to be in a business. In business you can be kind but at the same time you have to be ruthless. Then only some characters will not take advantage of our kindness and goodness to exploit. You cannot do anything to her as there is no concrete evidence available with you. She may simply deny everything whatever you say. So business has to be done with brain not with heart!

HI Archna

As vennu puru had mentioned , you can do the same thing with a slight change in it., That is create some dummy id (which sounds very sophisticated) and send her mail that you are new venture with great plans & you would be able to her to get better job than the current and tell her to mail details with her cell # & other contact no.

Once you get the no... . You can also take help of your friend to convince her so that she calls up and meets ..then try to check with her.or you can even try to speak to her directly , becoz mails can be ignore but ignoring calls is little difficult

Meanwhile you can try for this suggestion try to get in touch with yourmobile service provider and check with them regarding duplicate sim card and tell them whehter there is any way of getting data which u have stored in sim card. ( i am not sure..but i remember reading one article that data stored on sim card can retrieved even it is lost )..i am not very sure to what extent this information is correct..(becoz i read this article a year back or soemthing like that ) ..but just hope it works for you or else as vennu purru has suggested u can get in touch with ur service proivder for ur previous bills ...itemised ones..to get the no back..(if it is postpaid connection u shud be able to trace the no)..

It is not question of money but we do feel bad if we are cheated when we go out of the way to help others

Any ways all the best.

Regards
