Hi, Is it a mandate that an employees resignation be accepted in writing only. Can the management give a verbal confirmation of the same. Regards Amit

Being in Hr profession for last 4 years I believe one should have all the documents in black & White. No verbal confirmation stand good in court of law nor for any future records.

Dear Amit,
No it is not mandatory but to be on safer side it will be better if it is written. Suppose if in future any issue arise then verbal confirmation will not hold ground. When you are giving resignation in written then why not ask for written acceptance of it? whats wrong in it? Go for written acceptance................

Resignation has to be given in writing.
Acceptance of resignation too has to be in writing.
In the interest of the employee who resigned, settle all dues and
obtain a Relieving order and No due Certificate from the employer.
An employment certificate also will be helpful in future.
