I would like to know how banding is created in an organization wrt competency mapping and linking that to the compensation philosophy of an organization.Eg., The job grading method could be framed and used for benefits fitment while the point plan (hay plan) could be used for evaluating the 'Point Value' of a job. Which is a better way to create Bands and Levels in a mid size organization with around 300 employees? Pls list any sources that could be referred for better understanding.

Why don’t you search the web for that, in the first place, as you are asking for a list of the sources too. Please see the post by H at CiteHr, posted today. Have anice day. Simhan

Well tried all that; net gives a whole lot of mixed respones and a lot of that pertains to info that is more macro in nature than the actual specifics. It would be great in case you can share some info! Thanks.

I am a retired academic and am sure some practitioner following this thread will respond to you. However, they may not be able to give you references. Best wishes Simhan
