Dear rbs2002,
We need to understand that there are no shortcuts to Hardwork.
Secondly, we do not work for any company for job we work there to build our career.
Now, rbs unless you dont switch your job from government sector to the private sector i doubt there are any chances of becoming rich unlike illegally.
First of all government jobs are the places where people normally work with a typical mind set and they are afraid of changes.
So even if the change is proposed the change is nearly impossible.
So what i personally would suggest is join a company where you find your job description more challenging and where you think your creativity will come in picture too often.
I hope this might help us to sort out the real dilemma.

Dear rbs2002,
This is what I see in your statement:
BE (Mech) - strong education --- > Good job (your dream) ---> Pays well (need should be satisfied) ---> Self esteem (Friends will also look up to you) ----> You want to be busy always, and doing things innovatively (thats what you meant by hard work and intelligence?)
I suggest a different path
BE (mech) - strong education ---> Proper job market analysis (career plan) ----> Chose a passionate job (Being busy and doing things out of your own creativity) ---> Others realize your value (Wow...this guy has got talent)..
And see the following things that will come automatically:
Money
Fame
:-) Sense of satisfaction.
What I meant to say is - hunt for a job that you will be passionate about, create a niche for yourself..that is no one else would be as specialized as you, in that particular area..
and finally - you get all what you want!

Like sam dave commented:we do not work for any company for job we work there to build our career. so, create opportunity by yourself searching for some changes and unfulfill demands around sorrounding and be the owner of yourself (Be a entrepreneur) but this will take more than 2 years to become a rich guy but once you got the right choice you will.

Mr. RBS...
I guess you should start chanting the "Hare Krishna" Mahamantra ... and put in your positive efforts towards Krishna Conciousness. By doing so with full of your heart.......you will deffinatly get the path to reach the GODHEAD and become the richest men.

In my opinion - you don't become rich unless you are honest and passionate about whatever service you are providing to the society. Well dishonesty can get you a quick buck but it doesn't last long and you are never really truly rich because of the state of your mind.
What you need to do is find what you are passionate about and be entrepreneurial about it. The day you wake up and think - "I don't have a job... but I have work to do" that is a sign that you are progressing in the right direction.

Becoming rich is relative
Richness is a relative term.
You have to define first what is rich according to you. Being a crorepati or lakhpati or being a landlord or owning a farmfouse or becoming a member of a millionaire club etc etc. Having a good family is also rich. It totally depends on you.
Ask yourself what is rich according to you. Then make a several plans or the most convenient plan acoording to you.
Implement and work on it fast and with strict discipline. You will soon it is working or not. then improvise on it and I hope and feel that you will have your answer.
Please acknowledge.

Hello rbs2002,
Most have already conveyed as to what it takes to become 'rich'....most notably Zalak & Asha.
I want to go one step further......WHAT DO EXACTLY MEAN BY 'RICH'? Earning 10 lacs p.a. OR 1 cr p.a. salary OR 10 crs p.a. OR 1000 crs p.a. OR totally something else? First BE CLEAR ON YOUR DEFINITION OF "BEING RICH" [I have met people for whom 'rich' doesn't even mean money-even though it sounds ridiculous], and then choose the path that will take you there AND followed by striving to achieve it....come hell or rain. Just remember one thing: "there's no shortcut to success"--perseverence and effort are a must. For some it may take lesser time, for some a bit longer and for others more time. That's all......as long as you don't loose the focus in your goal, you are sure to reach where you want to.
I could go on & on......but I guess this should suffice.
Rgds,
TS

Hi, you could try the following...
-Get in touch with a career counsellor
-See what jobs ur friends are doing, and try to identify whether u like any of it.
-In the meanwhile, since u are well educated, see if you can give guest lectures etc in some institutions. This will supplement your income...
