Dear Phardeep,

I dont completely agree that every company prefers HR with experience in International call center. It may be - The recruitment firms, for Consultant job.

Recruitment firms are in a rat race here. To give a better picture, when companies hire search firms, they hire more than 2 or 3 search firms. When a position comes up, they give it to these firms and - all of them send profiles/candidates to be interviewed for. The Search firm that sent the right candidate, will get the hire price (may be aqt 8.33% or 12% ) of the candidates CTC (I assume you are a fresher - hence a detailed explaination)

So if you see here, if these search firms have to survive, they need aggressive people, with good communication skills.

Now in an international Call center - Aggressiveness and Language is essential for survival. You have targets set there, so the candidate is used to such pressure, and also, knows to maintain good standards while communicating.

I worked in a BPO initially (but in a Recruitment process) for Fortune 100 companies and represented major global giants. You know - it was mostly confidential searches like VP - Technical / Practise Director / etc. So you get to talk to senior people in the industry..after major goof ups, we get to learn the proper etiquette, and their culture.

And in such places, you dont talk only to people in the US, but also...in UK, Australia..and I must say - talking to Canadians, is the best experience one can have!

And the focus is not one industry - its vast - Pharma, IT, Gaming, Banking, Oil & Gas...

and I must say, the training one receives from good companies, is really good and proves to be useful.

So you see, for a recruitment firm, they look at meeting the immediate requirement, and what they mean by International Call Center experience is - Aggressiveness, Ability to work under pressure, and excellent communication skills.

I dont know if you have friends who work in a BPO (not just doing verification type of jobs - but hard core sales / Recruitment / Financial interpretation ). Gone were the days when call center used to hire just 12th pass, but now, its a happening Industry. They are careful while selecting people who represent their company (brand image). My friend with BE (Mech) was also in a process, where he was involved in Business Development / and providing technical support. The reason why he took this up was - in two years, he was good with BD and communicating his ideas effectively. He is working offshore now.

But I would not say everyone with a call center experience suits an HR job...neither all HRs would suit a call center job. Its just - a preference set by that company.

Hi Phardeep
Sure...
you should try to learn about Recruitment process, Technologies, IT Domains ( telecom, finance, healthcare, Networking ...), client management, business development, expectation management (aspirants), working on Job portals (naukri, monster..), Negotiation skills ( salary ) ....etc.
In HR Recruitment these skills are most important.
All the best.
