6 Tips to keep away peeping toms
There is no office without peeping toms people who try to intrude your personal space. In the middle of such people, maintaining privacy is quite a challenge. You obviously cannot get rid of them but you can prevent yourself by being alert and by adopting some measures to avoid intrusion.
· Keep your drawers locked: Keep your confidential documents in your cabinet. Do not even leave your personal papers on the table. Make sure you lock the cabinet before you leave your desk. If need be, ask for another secure locker area for very important papers.
· Switch off/lock your computer before leaving. You obviously would not want anyone to scan your files in use. So, always lock your computer before you leave. Also, it is advisable to have a mail password on.
· Do not share your password. This is a basic rule to be followed at all times. Keep your password private. Do not keep the default password as give by the technology team. Change it as soon as you receive them. Take care to avoid using something which is very obvious as your password.
· Delete cookies to stop others from knowing the sites you visit. You can keep your work confidential. Delete cookies and history in your computer. This way no one would be able to scan your browsing history.
· Log out. In case you are leaving your desk for a while and do not want to lock your computer, log out of your chat sessions. You may not appreciate someone looking at your chat windows and reading your conversation.
· Don’t blog about work. Though blogging seems to be the rage of the hour, writing about work and specially criticizing it can be upsetting for you in office. Expressing your dislikes in a candid manner might not go down very well with your boss or your colleagues. Therefore, prevent blogging about work and instead talk about others things in your life.
· Prefer mobile phone. Do not make personal calls from your desk phone. Instead, try to move to a quiet corner to indulge in personal talk.
Outsmart the peeping eyes - be on guard even if you are not at your desk in office. If nothing works, then consider talking to them about your displeasure regarding the same. It may be difficult to change habits in a person, but you can definitely ward them off from you.
