I am sure you must be knowing all this
Normally Participants in GD are evaluated for various qualities like Initiative, aggression, clarity of thoughts, conceptual knowledge, ability to deal with ambiguity / unstructured situation, ability to organise, team work, leadership, communication skills, listening skills, general knowledge, conflict management, creativity and innovation etc.
What you need to do is list down the qualities you think are essential and sufficient to perform future role. Then you can decide the proficiency level you need just as we do in competency mapping. Set scale of 1 to 10.
All above characteristics can be measured by observing candidate carefully and giving typical topic like any current situation, situation involving moral dilemma, abstract topic, case study based GD, Role-play based GD.
Format can be like this.
Clarity of thoughts Comm skills Leadership
Participant No
1
2
3
Make sure there are not more than ten candidates in one GD group and there is one observer per three- four candidates so it will be easier to observe reactions.
You can give topics like
Giraffes are better than horses
Sky is green
Zidane’s headbutt
Capital punishment should be banned
Underworld the way to glamour
Saurav Ganguly v/s chappel
Life is itself learning process
I hope this will help you.
