I was checking out http://www.hatefiring.com (lured in by their funny, irreverent office ads) and considering using online pre-employment assessments to evaluate new hires. Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with pre-employment assessments, personality tests or evaluations?

Hello hrgirl80:
>Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with pre-employment assessments, personality tests or evaluations?<

Yes, my clients and the rest of the 50,000+ employers that use our assessments find them extremely effective for increasing employee retention and boosting new hire productivity.
Before selecting an assessment I suggest reading "Testing and Assessment: an Employer's Guide to Good Practices", Employment and Training Administration U.S. Department of Labor. If you'd like to receive the report just send an email with "Send DOL Report" as the subject to the email address in my signature block below.

they are quite effective....they are here for long time and only mode of analysis have changed.
things also depends upon what kind of potential employee you hiring and at what level. Parameters of selection/traits etc are utmost important.
These tests can not be applied to all...I mean there is no common test for all kinds of positions.

I agree for the most part. Some assessment are newer than others and more effective than others. Some should not be used for selection.

I agree again.

That will come as a surprise to the 50,000+ employers that use our talent assessment and there are other talent assessments as well.
