From the comments on this forum it appears that ESIC benefits are available only if the death was due to " employment related injury. Can some one clarify, if an employee was under EPF & ESIC & death was due to 'employment related injury' can he claim benefits from both EPF & ESIC ?

If death occurred due to employment related accident, then the dependents are eligible for pension benefits from both EPF and ESIC.

May be ESIC can be paid the pension to deceased parents if the person unmarried.
In my company employee got Rs.15000/- 4 Years Experince and died. Rs.1875/- in each parents and total Rs.3750/-was paid.

Dear Gobsbp,
Your reply seems to be the right answer. However I have a few queries, 1.how do ESIC decide who is the "Dependent" , that dependent Or dependents( some posts here says that more than one person can get pension) ID proof etc may also be necessary. 2. Another query is if a person is eligible for both EPF & ESIC pension can he avail both? 3. What is TIC?

Yes both can be availed only in case death has occurred during the course of employment and due to the employment. in the above mentioned case(Heart attack) may not considered due to the employment since it is considered as illness. Employee family get's funeral benefit from ESIC . PF pays one time payment of EDLI and applicable pensions(Widow/Children/Orphan/Dependent) through EPS.

Dear Mr Raghavan, my main query was if a person is eligible for both EPF pension & ESIC pension can he avail both?
Please note that there is no "EPf Pension" But, EPS-The Employees Pension Scheme, 1995
ESI & EPF are independent beneficial Central Legislations. There is no bar to avail pension subject to eligibility from both simultaneously.
