The issue with allowing users to close the threads at their will is that most will not close the threads and as a result we will have threads from years ago show up in MENU->RECENT POSTS which is still used by many senior members.
However, it is completely up to the senior members to decide how they want it - do they want the users to have the power to close the threads at will or should it be closed after 6 months of activity, automatically.
There is no specific parameters for the "Best Case Discussions" - anything the seniors feel is important, can be moved there. Regarding the "Hit & Run" issue - we already send the users notifications - but following up has always been a major struggle for people. Many request to remove the thread, once a resolution is reached - this again causes issues and is usually not allowed.
