Hi ,
As i see it you are asking if 8.33% is the maximum that you can ??
Answer to that will be no .You can get a maximum up to 20% of your basis.There is no fixed way of calculation however if the calculation is done on a monthly basis then the basic of the salary is considered generally. .However all depends on the companies performance.If it very good then you can get additional bonus as well during your mid year or annual appraisal as well
Thanks & Regards,

Dear All,
The ceiling is Rs 3500 that means upto 3500, we can take the actual basic and DA for calculating bonus. Please find the cases
1. Employee with basic - 2000 and DA - 400, No of years worked= 1.5
basic= 2000

DA=400
No of years=1.5
Therefore Bonus= 2400*1.5*8.33%= 300

Hi friends,
I need to know -
If a staff is drawing a basic of less than Rs.10000/- and if the company pays a bonus of Rs.8000/-, the full amount of Rs.8000/- can be shown as bonus, or you have to show Rs.3500/- as bonus and balance Rs.5000/- to be shown as ex-gratia.
please clarify.
thanks,

In simple terms, any employee who earns wages upto or less than 10,000 is eligible to get bonus.
Hence whoever is eligible, his bonus shall be calculated on 3500. But if he earns less than 3500,(suppose i.e 2400) then bonus shall be on that particular amount of 2400.
If it is minimum bonus then it shall be 3500*12*8.33%
If maximum bonus is to be given then 3500*12*20%
Allocable surplus in a very easy terms means a particular amount set aside for the bonus from the available surplus or profit the company has as per sec(10) of bonus act. That amount is given for giving maximum bonus 20% and rest is carried forward for the next year.
Hope this helps you.

Hi !
I am aware that we can give more than Rs.3500/- bonus, but while showing in our books of accounts, can we show the full amount of Rs.8000/- as bonus, or we have to show Rs.3500/- as bonus and Rs.5000/- as ex-gratia
