There are several Advantages of 5 days working. One can divide them in to 2 types
Financial Benefits
Non Financial Benefits
Financial Benefits includes saving company cost on different things like if company is providing transport bearing whole cost then transportation cost, electricity cost, ability of the office man to work on a maximum capability as he is coming with a good mod to work
Non Financial Benefits are like employee motivation, employee can maintain a good balance in work and family so will work with a satisfied mind and concentrate on his work

Dear Amit,
Honestly speaking this is purely negative idea towards growth of the company & employee itself.
In today's scinerio any company either profit sharing/loss sharing, both can't afford any extra leave of any employee.
So, this is my opinion that if you gives this type of proposal to your management....so management has to re-think about your appointment in the organization.

Dear Friends,
Alternate Saturday off is good idea initially. It saves lots of overhead costs of operations and motivates existing & prospect employees to be associated with such organizations.

Dear Amit,
You need to make a business case as how your initiative would relfect savings in terms of costs to the company without disrupting work. You can suggest increase in work hours on week days to complete 48 hours a week. Look at those areas where you can propose savings like, transportation, food, electricity, coffee etc.
I suggest, this initiative be limited to only admin.

you need to divide the weekly working hours on 5 and then reduce Friday working by 1 1/2 hour so that you can get Saturday and Sunday off 2 days
I am Sr. Manager HR in my company where we have 3100 staff like this :
1> HO : Saturday to Tuesday ---- 8:00 am to 5:30 pm with 1/2 hour break
Wednesday 8 am to 4 pm
Thursday & Friday off days
2> Branches & sites 2 days but have to choose one day with Friday so work does not suffer
all are happy

You have to increase the daily working hours so that you can compensate the 6 day. Or you can make last Saturday of month working.

In fact, five days working culture is good for the employee as well as the employer.
Advantages
1.Power consumption on Air-conditioners, Computers, Lighting and Fans, is saved
2.Need not pay wages for the casual labourers for the extra weekly holiday.
2.Can save expenditure towards Refreshments and lunch
Disadvantages
Important work gets delayed by two holidays to wait till Monday.
People can always be asked to work on need-based and in case of exigency, on Saturdays and can be allowed to take a C-off on any day subsequent week.

Please do the cost-benefit analysis before doing so. Don't think from employees perspective only let's think from employer point of view also. there has to be a mixed opinion on this to proceed further....
its very good for employees; may reduce leaves as well as they will get a long weekend which they can use for their personal work or outings etc.
for employer think in terms of the production/output on Saturdays, how it will affect the over all production. if their is less production then would you save company money by doing so.
if both parties will be benefited then it can be a good idea and m sure will be approved by management also.
if not all Saturday, what if you plan for second Saturday or alternate Saturday. for this also you need to do cost benefit analysis.
