I can give you my own example. As I grew up, I saw my uncles and relatives working for multinationals and that sort of big ventures. I knew one day I'll work in formal environments like them and so I observed what they wore closely. So in my case, it's all about self education and I had to rely on my observation skills. But some formal training could have made life a lot easier".

Be confident of yourself and your abilities.
Rich or not, poor or not, or the academic qualifications don't really matter. If the two of you are working on the same level, in the same company; more often than not, your abilities won't have a significant difference.
I feel that this has a really simple solution: Take some time to break the ice. Try to talk to and understand each other. Quite a few times, you'll be surprised that the person in front of you is friendly and warm with you, and not the way you thought he might be.
So, just be confident and try to talk to them. It should solve the problem.

Tanya, Minaxi sharma has said what i wanted to say...If the company has offered u a job it has felt that u r at par with their culture and etiqs... do not get into inferiority complex and spoil yrself.. english is not the end of the world and communicate in the lang best known to u... speak in Hindi or Tamil or Marathi or Gujarathi... I worked in Maha and Gujarat state and i hv seen IAS/IPS officers and Judges speak in Marathi and Gujarathi... why shud u be ashamed of yr ability to speak or not to speak a language.. Moreso, others may start conversing in the vernacular.. u can always speak English in due course of time.. and do not worry ...even if it is mistake, speak with mistakes... Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Japan, Korea, China there are many countries who do not speak English...

Hi Tanya
Firstly, congrats for joining an MNC and taking a leap over others in your career. Very rightly commented/suggested by all the learned professionals. There is nothing wrong in you with regards to the skills required to be successful in your career. It doesn't matter whether you are a convent educated or a model school educated, it is your attitude and skills which determine your growth/downfall.
Do one of the two things and be successful

Hi Tanya,
As said, this is predominantly common. I would like to say that be what you are and start your day with a smile, try to mingle with others to an extent its required and down the lane what matters is your optimism and skills. Be a leader always and let others adopt the best things from you and vice versa. It is common with everyone entering into an MNC, but everyone learns over a period of time. So be confident and carry on dude. You will see a difference within a months time.
Take care

what they said is obviously perfect.
You are asking that, how to start a process of make yourself professional. But you have already made your first step to change yourself by posting this query itself. So, just go ahead like this way.
This will be applicable to your problem exactly. if you didn't post this query, you wouldn't have a chance to get these many suggestions right? Like the same way, you wouldn't get chance to change until you take chance to speak with your colleagues even.
and coming to communication skills, whatever course you are doing doesn't matters until you try to speak out. "Communication get develops by communicating with others only. until & unless you won't get a chance to correct yourself.
And remember one thing, no one is perfect in speaking English or else any other foreign language. It's jus
