HI Mr. Khola,
I wanted to ask u if i am eligible for maternity benefit. i joined this company in OCT 2009 and NOV 2009 i was pregnant. I was appointed as a consultant and was taken on a payroll from April 2010. Hence i was working as a permanent employee with all the benefits for April, May, June. However i worked till the last day of my delivery and was on a 3 month maternity break. Before joining this company in 2009 i was on a 1.5 yr break. My company says i am not eligible as i havent worked for 180 days as i was a consultant till April 2010.
Kindly let me know if this stands true.

Dear Member,
Plz tell the company that the eligibility conditions is only 80 days actual working days & not 180. Therefore go through section 5(2) of the latest Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 for taking proper decision in the matter.
