Hi,
Can any one guide me the components involved in fixing of minimum wages like :
Basic + DA = Minimum Wages
OR
Basic + DA + HRA = Minimum wages
This includes the definition of Basic. Is their any Act or Notification indicating Basic components other than Wages Act 1948.
Thanks
Sajiv

As per Minimum Wages Act, Minimum wages means a basic rate of wages and Variable Dearness Allowance which will vary according to changes in consumer price index and compensate any increase in cost of living of the area. Minimum Wages being fixed by the respective state government, there may be states which includes House Rent Allowance as part of minimum wages.
From the enforcement point of view the total wages paid to employees should be equal to the minimum wages irrespective of any bifurcation made by the employer. However, the total pay should not include any reimbursement but should only include actual and regular payments.
