Hello
have you been trained in six sigma??
Have you got a clear mandate from the top managemen t if no then go slow.
If your organisation is not yet tuned to six sigma, then start with simple kaizen projects. Show improvements. Then sell the idea of Six Sigma Identify people who can be trained as Blak Belts and start atleast 6 to 8 projects with atleast three black belts around depending on the size of the organisation

Hi Siva, Thanks for your comments, i have been trained on Six sigma and i have also been YB certified. I see areas of improvement but how do i sell my point to the managment. i belong to middle management family and unless my Manager approves to the ideas i dont see it reaching Senior management level. I see a road block there. secondly i do not wish to create an atmosphere of ill feeling to have reached Senior management without my imediate managers approval.
Please let me more about Kaizen projects? Is it something like to do with Lean?

Hi
Kaizen is all about continuous improvements Statistical tools are used here as well It is Japanese term
You can pick up very small projects like telephone cost cost reduction in some ares. But one danger in doing these projects is that you wil be branded as cost cutting person. Moreover, six sigma also will be looked as cost cutting tool
Pick up some Improvement plan and form a small team. Use DMAIC
Covert percentages into six sigma and show people how these improvements can be highly beneficial. tell yourt immediate boss that you need his advice on statrting Kaizen You will get support
Use six sigma tools and pick up six sigma projects Noone will identify the difference to start with aWhen they see lots of improvemkents, they will sit up I have used this technique and took a particular process to 3 to 4 ssigma level in just three months time from just 1 sigma level Then the organisation looked at it seriously The only difference is that I was the HR Head!!! no boss to me

I agree that i start looking at few improvement areas within organisation and if that's gets to make any difference then as you said it cannot be missed by management. i should proactively start observing on simpliest of the things that we do on an day to day basis. Thanks a ton for your note. Will be back if i may have any questions.
