Dear Prasu,
Yes, controlling office expenses is important which includes the expenses on stationery as well. Nevertheless, are you being pressured to reduce the expenses for the entire company or only for your department?
Anyway, you need to find what stationery consumption cost/employee/month is. Find out which department consumes more stationery and why the consumption is more.
Automation is one of the means of reducing stationery consumption. Therefore, find out ways which processes are manual and how can these be made paperless? Another method of reducing stationery consumption is to start using cloud-based work. To do this, we need to use Google products like Google Docs, Google Sheets etc or Microsoft products like Office 365.
India is still far away from creating digital infrastructure. In the digital world, everything happens paperless. You may recommend your bosses to digitise as many processes as possible.
Thanks,
