Dear Vinithakkar,

I think this question was very recently raised by someone in a different form and I have also answered it.

The leave of absence of 26 weeks on account of maternity would be counted for the computation of the continuous service of 240 days which is the threshold of eligibility for EL; but during this entire leave period the employee will not not earn any EL as she is not actually working.

Dear Team,

Please confirm if any of one Employee is in long leave then how will consider EL, and secondly if employee is taking EL for Saturday and Monday then how will consider EL.

Thnaks,
Dharmendra

It would depend on the rules applicable, like Standing Orders or leave rules of your company. If there are no such binding rules, the general principle is that the employee will not earn leave for the period on long leave.
