Please guide me about the exit date in the death case. My one employee expired on 18 Sept. But he was on leave from last month.
So what his date of exit I can mention or which option I took in PF site death in service or death away from service.

Action of the person dies with the person. Therefore, whether the deceased employee was on authorized leave or otherwise, the contract of employment would be alive till his death. Date of death is the actual date of termination of the contract of his employment if things like resignation or dismissal/discharge has not happened in the middle. Hence the date of the employee's death is the date of his exit from service.

Dear Mr Umakanthan M,
Thanks for the usual clarification. However, just a small suggestion. One of the lines of your reply reads "Date of death is the actual date of termination of the contract...". Can I suggest to replace the word "termination" with "cessation"?
Thanks,

Sure, Divakarji, 'cessation' seems to be more appropriate in the context! Thank you.
