In order to become eligible for gratuity an employee should complete five years of continuous service in the same establishment.
Therefore, a person leaves the organisation after a short spell of 2 to 3 months of service is not eligible for gratuity. This is the position of law applicable through out India.

Dear Sanjeev,
Totally agree with Mr. Umakanthan.
Here, since it's a break of 2-3 months, it will not be considered as "Continuous Service" as per Sec 2A of Payment OF Gratuity Act, 1972.
Regards
Piyush

Sharma. I believe that you are discussing about left and rejoin in the services. If you have treated it as leave, it will be considered as Continued Services.
