I have been working in a company for past one year. Currently, i am 6 months pregnant.
In feb 2020, i was told that my company is moving to a new place. I was also given a retention bonus letter and asked to join the new location.
I told them about my case and said that since i won't be able to travel so far, i would request to be given work from home for 2 months before i can go on maternity.
At that time i was given assurance that they will definitely help me with this.
Now, the date of company shift is approaching fast. Even after so many verbal reminders and emails i am not getting any reply from them.
What should i do?

Dear member,
After the first trimester of the pregnancy, a woman employee is expected to inform her employer officially. Woman employee covered under ESI is expected to submit a medical certificate from the ESI doctor whereas non-ESI employee is expected to submit the certificate from the certified gynaecologist.
It appears that in your case when company intimated to you about shifting of their premises, you had disclosed about the pregnancy. Nevertheless, this cannot be construed as official information.
I recommend you putting up application giving details of your maternity. Attach the medical certificate to the application and then wait for the company to intimate you their decision.
Thanks,

Dear member,
If your company tries terminating you then we will provide a sound solution for that also. However, at this stage give them official information about your pregnancy. Don't be concerned too much. Not good for your health at this stage.
Thanks,

Hi, around 15 days back, i had mailed my company hr and team lead regarding my pregnancy and request for work from home until maternity leave. But there's no reply.
My company is in noida and shifting to gurgaon. My hr here at noida office is saying that gurgaon hr is ready to give me work from home, however management over there is taking time to respond in email.
The company shift process will take place on 2 March 2020. There's hardly any time left. Thus, i m worried.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi,
If possible please get that assurance in writing from your Noida/Gurgaon HR.
Also just send them reminder email and wait for their response for a day or two.
I can understand your anxiety at this moment, try to calm down and take necessary steps with relax mind. Take care.

Dear Member,
If about 15 days ago you had informed your company about your pregnancy and the facility to work-from-home, and if no reply has been received then you may send the reminder to the company.
When the company changes their place of operation, lot of issues are involved. Therefore, the top management could be busy in the smooth transition or maintaining the continuity of the operations. Against this backdrop, application of pregnant employee may not be given high priority. However, their silence need not be interpreted as they are going to remove you from the job. Just wait for the reply.
Thanks,

Thank you so much for your reply Dinesh Divekar and Your Friend. I really appreciate your help.
Dinesh Divekar, i feel what you have said is correct. They are so involved in other processes that my request has be sidelined for now. I need to be patient.

Dear member,
If the company tries terminating you then we need to know the reasons for the termination. If it is poor performance, then have they issued you any show cause notice or warning so far? In fact, issue of the show cause notice in the past is not sufficient. They have to conduct the domestic enquiry wherein your under-performance has to be proved.
In case if the company tries to terminate you forcefully then are you ready to take on them? If yes, then you need to approach Labour Officer (LO) of your area. Give me call and I will inform you the procedure. We will also discuss the other issues involved in approaching the LO.
Thanks,
Dinesh Divekar
