Dear All,
I want to find out that whether salary of employees of the organization is according to minimum wages or not?
Can anybody tell me how can I compare their salary with the minimum wages?
I have the rates of minium wages applicable for my zone.

HI, Minimum wages are basic +da . So if u want to compare the salary with minimum wages , take existing basic and da and compare with minimum wages. Regards, Harshad

But can we compare the minimum wages with the gross salary because if only basic and DA is conidered them no body is matchin with the minimum wages.

Hi Shweta,
W can't compare minumum wages with gross , since gross will be obviously high than minimum wages. Minimum wages is basically the basic salary and DA. Gross will include all other allowances like HRA, MED, CONVEYANCE ETC, which can differ company to company. There may be other allowances under which company will pay the amount which is part of gross. Thats why minimum wages is compared only with Basic and Da. Since as per the Act one needs to pay minimum wages as per the industry specification. Over & above 5 % HRA should be paid. Rest what all amount is paid under what ever heading Act is not concern. So it has to be compared with Basic and DA.

hi,
I am working in Outsourcing company where we have to do salary structure according to the client wishes, they want to reduce their liability like employer contribution in PF and ESI and want to pay more to the employee ie.. NTH. In this way they reduces basic pay and increases net pay. Can any body help me how to go about it.

Minimum wages are annonced in all state government. The govt. time to time they are relased order also. we are follow their order. Now Pondicherry Government annonced Rs.80/- per day.

Pls read the para below may be this will help you out to understand the difference:
Minimum Wages: According to my knowledge you have to pay minimum wages as per the profile and nature of job as per the minimum wages act 1948. Otherwise it will consider as a offence to employer.
Minimum wages set by the statewise with some Particulat norms:
in simple terms- food requirement, cloth requirement, house requirement, fuel / lighting / and education of children, , medical requirement etc.
It is the amount of remuneration, which is just need to an average worker to fulfill his obligations.
Salary: Total worth you have to give an employee after job evaluation.

But I am confused, If we compare the basic & Sp. allowance with the actual Basic and all. then I still found that many of the organizations are not paying their employees according to Minimum Wages.
How can it be possible.
Pl. Clarify.
