I have a query regarding Water Cess.
We are implementing ISO 14001 for an Industry
Is water cess fee applicable only if they consume metro water ? or is it applicable also in case the client consume ground water?
Do the client have to pay water cess in case they consume the water within the prescribed limit given in the consent ?
Kindly reply with details.

In most of the local bodies & city corporations water bills contains a component of Sewage charges in addition metered water consumed together with cess & other levies. Usually cess thus collected goes to the kitty of the local bodies who are responsible for maintaining civic services such as sewage lines, storm water drains, street/road surface cleaning, providing culverts, control of flies, mosquitoes, stray dogs etc. It's possible a resident/occupier need not consume water from the public sources by managing from their own sources/well or borewell but still a minimum charges are billed including cess & taxes. In this regard Acts/rules empowering local bodies may be referred.
