Thankyou V.M.Lakshminarayanan for answering my query. Lunch timing is from 1:00 - 1:30 . If anyone wants to leave from half day so it will be 1:00 or 1:30?

H Nikhat,
Your total work hours i 8 hours excluding lunch break. Roughly you may have 4 hours calculation for .5 day leave. These are company specific.
Have some policy towards minimum work hours for .5 day and full day and follow.

there is no policy as such, even if I have to make one kindly suggest based on industry standards. For 8.5 hr shift including the lunch break , will 6 hrs of work will do to be called as full day?

Dear Nikhat,
Understanding the concept of spread over of daily work precedes the formulation of any policy relating to any scale of leave less than a day as well as permission for late attendance or early leaving. Spread over refers to the total time in a working day the employee is at the disposal of the employer. In other words it is the time between the scheduled signing on and signing off by the employee including the intervals for rest. For all practical purposes, a day of work comprises of the entire duration of the shift and not just the actual hours the employee is required to work with chisel or pen.
