As far as i know, only active subscribers of EPFO are eligible for EDLI benefits. As a pensioner, if there is no contribution made to your PF account, you are not eligible for EDLI benefits.

Hello there,
EDLI Scheme covers all employees irrespective whether they are working or retired. They should be member of the EPF, the insurance money based on the basic salary of an employee, coverage up to 6 lakh.

The following response is incorrect, EDLI only covers those who are actively employed at the time of death.

Please note that EDLI Wage limit is Presently Rs15,000/-PM.
All EPF Members during their Employment/EPF MEMBERSHIP come under the purview of EDLI.Employer will contribute to EDLI @ 0.50% of EDLI Wages.
EDLI BENEFIT IS PAID ONLY FOR Death while in Service.The moment Employee leaves Service, he ceases from EDLI Mebership
