Hi all,
I am an HR professional with 2 year 5 months experienced and current associated with an IT company based out in Pune.
This is my second company and I am with this firm since last 1 year and 4 months.I came here with so much of career expectations. But the issue arised after my 8 months of employment. We are having 110 employees and 3 HR( 1 Manager and 2 Executives), even the director (owner of the firm) is doing all main HR tasks,as he is not trusting HR over the sensitive data. I had(still have) so much expectations about my career.
But this environment doesn't allow me to learn anything related to my interests(HR).With my previous company I had ample of things to learn. But I left the firm because of some job security issue.
Can anyone please suggest me what I have to do.Here my management is imposing me to do more into Admin related activities ,where I need to involve in house keeping activities.
I need to do something immediately ,as I feel I am getting out of dated in HR related works. Where ever I go for interview, all interviewers are asking about the immediate change and my company gives a salary above the industry standard which make me afraid about the future. Most of the companies are rejecting me because of the salary as a second concern.
I think sitting idle is manageable for 1 week or 2 weeks. But sitting like this for months is really frustrating.
Awaiting for the valuable thoughts.

Dear Anonymous,
Sometimes one faces a situation like what you are facing now.
Salary, job security, job satisfaction, job enrichment etc may be at loggerheads at times.
You need to make a decision about your priority.
Enrich your knowledge by studying books, follow the latest trends, read good articles and thus keep yourself active and updated. Opportunities will come.
There is very little you can do to change your bosses. Have patience.

Your intention to learn more about HR is laudable.
If you feel you are being diverted to admin, just do the work given while biding time for change of job.
Spend time reading abut trends and issues of HR,and get updated.
Volunteer for extra jobs of HR even if you are being pushed into pushed, in admin roles.
Future is always unpredictable, no point worrying about future.never hesitate to ask the salary your qualifications, experience is getting normally across other companies and industries.
These kind of issues creep up in every working professional's life.
They need to be faced as per circumstances.
By doing admin work you can show your skills to employer and he will also develop a trust and confidence in you.

It will be worthwhile to go into the Admin with full energy and vigour and try to master the area as it would enhance your scope of employment with HR. Take it as a positive step and keep abreast of HR knowledge as you continue with your work. As your pay is not an issue, one of the prime concern, it will be good to learn as you have just started your career and admin is also related area until recently. We still have some companies who combine these two areas into one or the Head will be taking care of both the areas. Grab the opportunity and work hard, you will succeed.
