Hi, I would like to know that if an employee's salary(10k per month) is not touching the minimum wages like at-least 14k (approx per month) then should we deduct the epf on that. According to us we have calculation of basic is 40% of gross or ctc(4000*12%). SHould we go for epf deduction for him?

If your establishment is covered by PF Act, you need to deduct PF in all those cases where an employee draws wages 15000/-p.m or less. The PF deduction has nothing to do minimum wages. However an employer is required to pay wages not less than the minimum wages prescribed by the Govt. for each category of workmen.
