Dear Seniors,
I got an offer letter from one of the reputed company in Bangalore and I was asked to join immediately (within 1 week). Since I worked for a reputed organisation from last five years they were ready to release me within 1 week.
On 11th Dec, it was my joining day. So, I was asked to carry all the documents along with me to complete the joining formalities. As usual I did the same.
On the date of joining they collected all my documents and I was asked to leave for the day as the concerned manager was on leave (as told to me).
Next day I went to office as usual and HR person asked me to wait at the reception. After an hour the HR person informed me that the concerned manager is on leave hence you can again leave for the day, I got confused by what I was told. I asked them is there any genuine issue then she told nothing, then again I asked her is my joining formalities complete she replied saying yes but the concerned manager will call me and update on further work tasks. Then again I told her to ask concerned manager to call me immediately (now) and update me as it I smell something fishy. She went inside and after five minutes I got a call from the concerned manager and he told me that he is not available for 2 days as he is in client visit & he will also call me and update when to come to office. I asked him the tentative date and I was told 2 days maximum.
I did not receive any call for the next 2 days hence I directly went to the office on the 3rd day to meet the concerned manager. Luckily, the concerned manager was available and over the discussion he told me that the upper management has taken a decision to hold all the offers and he is trying very hard to get me in . It was very disappointing for me as I was in a shock and could not speak for a few minutes. Later I told the manager that I have lot of commitments and I resigned my current organisation because you asked me to join immediately. He did not seem to care about what I said or my current situation. But he told me that he is trying hard and will inform me. Since then no information was conveyed to me .
Dear all, now I am left jobless and no idea what to do with all my commitments, I trusted an organisation, please suggest me what to do now?
Thanks and regards
Anand

Dear Anand,
It is ethically very wrong that your company is doing right now. You can approach your nearest labour office under which this organisation falls in and file a complaint against the organisation with copy of offer letter attached to it.

Very sorry to know about your situation. There are quite a number of small companies where one manager handle everything from finance to HR to marketing to everything. They are not true professionals in the real sense. They do not have a revenue budget, manpower budget, manpower planning... just nothing. The management will be one guy who would have invested some of his money in this venture. If his mood and mind changes, everything stops. You should first check the background of the organisation, whether any HR department exists and from the way they communicate, you can easily guess whether it is worth resigning from an established company. Never leave a good job, just for a few thousand rupees more or a perceived higher responsibility. In the present job you may be an Executive and in the new job, your designation might be Manager. In reality, in the new job, as Manager, you may be forced to do work, much lower than what you were doing as an executive. These days people are enamoured of designation and position. You can send an ultimatum to them by email that because of their job offer you had quit the company and now you are jobless. Unless they give either three month salary as compensation, or a lump sum of around Rs.50000/- you are going to handle them legally. In the meanwhile, try whether you can go back to your earlier company... No harm in seeking their pardon and settling with known company and people. A known devil is better than an unknown angel !
Best wishes
