Dear all, If an employee needs multiple reminders for a task then what should be done to control this, please suggest. Also if a notice is to be given to the person then what should I write.

First verbally counsel him/her and endorse it on his documents.
Give him date wise and work reminders which you were forced to give him.
If there is no progress written warning counselling can be given to him.
SC notice comes later on down the line after giving him reasonable verbal and written warning about his lack of devotion to duty, delaying work etc.

It is really irking to remind some one multiple times about his duties. They are not only unproductive but also eat other's productive time. You can follow the steps suggested by Mr.Nathrao. But find out whether he is inherently lazy or deliberately neglecting work or a disengaged employee and if so why so. The counselling and motivating sessions are proper in the last case but in respect of the first two cases, you may have to proceed with disciplinary action after building record.
