Functions of work Committee already given in ID Act.

The legal requirement is that the worker representatives in Safety & Canteen Committees have to be elected by the 'Workers' of the Factory. See Rule 73-I(3) & 82(2) of MP Factories Rules 1962. So you can insist for separate election to these Committees as they have to be specifically elected for the purpose. Important point to be noted regarding the Factories Act is that the term 'Worker' is not limited to the workmen category alone, it is all inclusive term including executives, supervisors & workmen including contract labour. So legally the Works Committee members elected to represent workmen under ID Act 1947 cannot be said to represent all workers of the factory.
