Respected Members,
I have been approached by few of the Ex- servicemen those who are working in Private Companies,stating that they are exempted from Professional Tax.Request Please Guide on this issue. Also if any one has any such notification regarding this Please share.

Dear Bijay,
Professional Tax is collected by the state government. Therefore, you need to find out whether ex-servicepersons are exempted from the payment of the service tax by your state government. In the meanwhile, you may tell the exservicemen to provide the photocopy of the government policy letter on the said exemption.

under Karnataka Profession Tax Act,Employees who are 60 Years & above are exempted from the purview of Act.Similarly, you can find exemption on the basis of Age, category etc as provided in the relevant Act, which is state specific
