hi,
Any one can please help with the question i need to ask while taking interview, My manager has asked me to be more soft and use CAN COULD instead of Wh type of question in telephonic round of interview.
Ex. i ask candidate this type of questions, starting from WHAT,WHY,WHEN, as what is your profile in your current company, what dose your father do,
How can i say this in a different manner so i would sound polite and soft.
Please someone guide me.. i am new to recruitment and i generally conduct telephonic interview of fresher IT candidate.

Hello Ujjwala,
What your Manager is referring to is this: Use REQUESTING wordings rather than 'ordering/curt/direct' wordings.
For eg. 'what dose your father do' can be worded as 'can you tell what dose your father do', etc
Hope you get the point.
And BTW, you do seem to have got a good manager who guides you well.

Dear Ujjwala,
Try to follow these steps, as its a telephonic discussion need to follow some basic ethics.,
- Confirm that your speaking with the right candidate.
- After confirmation, just greet him/her (Good morning / good noon/ good evening). And ask candidate if he/she is in the position to speak with you now regarding the openings.
- After greeting , just inform how and where did you find his/her profile.
- Next step ask candidate to explain about self - usually all fresher will start with their name, education, family and project.
- Next step ask in detail about project, if you find him excellent and suitable you can schedule for next level of discussion.
- Over all the call will go for max12-15 minutes if the candidate explains more about self, else the call will finish in 5-8 minutes.
