A contractor finishes work /contract and cleares wages, full and final of his labours. But later its found that the contractor has not settled pf claims of his labours and those labours are urging princupal employer to look into that. The contractor is having his own pf code and while checking it is found that contributions has been deposited by the contractor but is relactant in settling the pf claims.
What can principal employer do in such case to ensure claim settlement by the contractor (apart from persuation and holding final bill)

Dear Mr Saptarshi,
I would like to suggest two points:-
1. If the employees are currently working in some other company & ask them to transfer their PF A/c into new PF A/c no under UAN Option.
2. Get a letter from one of the ex-employee of the contractor based on his letter send mail to concern contractor for reply & try to close the issue.
If you have to close the issue you have to act smartly there is no option.

Thanks...but for a contractor who is having PF code in his name and his workmen covered under his code, what would be the liability of principal employer in such case, specially in issues like PF claim settlement.

Dear DG,
In future, if any notice will issue by the EO of the EPFO regarding this, the principle employer also have to give their explanation, if these issue goes to PF authorities by the ex-employees of your contractors.
If any employees submits his/her/their grievance through a letter to respective authority {Mentioning the principle employer's name} your company also have to give the explanation to concern authority for this issue.
Try to close it.
