Hi,
I want to learn US IT recruitment process. I understand its very different from Indian Recruitment process. I have managed to get some information online but its too descriptive. It would be nice if anyone can share a powerpoint slide or share the link for online understanding of US IT recruitment.
Thanks!

US IT Recruitment isn't a mini concept to explain at a glance,

anyways the major Role of you as a recruiter is not only recruiting but also selling.. i mean u will be provided with bench candidates who are to be placed in to companies..

As Recruiter you need to learn the few major concepts

1.Types of Visa and their validity

2.Types of taxation

3.Types of Employee

Types of visa

a) Immigrant Visa

b) Non Immigrant Visa

As a Recruiter you need pay attention to Non-Immigrant visa types most... they are further classified as

i) A- allotted to Foreign Government Officials

ii) B1/B2- for Business, Tourists & Visitors

iii) F1-Visa allotted for students to only study in US not to work for working they are being provided with

CPT-Curricular Practical Training (allotted after 9 months of his education)

EAD-Employment Authorization Document

OPT-Optional Practical Training

OPT-EAD-Permission to work in US after Education it is granted for a period of 29 months(initially for 12 months & extension for 17 months)

Dependents are provided with F2 which is only a permission to stay they cannot work/study.

iv) H1- Temporary Work Visa which is processed from organisations to an employ who is out of nation with a period of 6 years (initially 3 years + Extension 3 years)

there were 4 categories in H1 they are

EB1-Highly qualified Professionals(CEO)

EB2-4 years Bachelors degree + 5 years of experience

EB3- Any Bachelors + 2 years of Experience

EB4-Government Employee

EB-Employment Based

Dependents are given H4 visa which is only a permission for residing in us only, they are not allowed to work/Study.

v) L1- Temporary work visa provided during the time of intra-company transfer, they are not allowed to change their Employer

Divided into 2

a)L1 a Visa granted to candidates who have Supervisory Responsibilities for Professional Staff. Eg Project Manager

Duration 7 years(initially 3years extension of 2+2years)

b)To candidates having Specific set of Knowledge of company's product/services, research system. Eg Recruiter, Trainer

Duration 5 years(initially 3 years + 2 years)

Dependents are provided with L2 visa, they had provision to work if they apply for L2-EAD with a duration of 2years

vi)TN - to the Professional workers of Mexican & Canada

with a little description this is about Visa...

2)Taxation is categorized as

i.)W2

In this Employer will pay the entire taxes of his employee which include state unemployment tax(SUT), FICA,FUTA,IRS,State & Federal Income Tax...

ii)1099

A individual is treated as a Self Incorporated or a Corporation and he is payed in a un taxed manner, the individual himself have to pay all his taxes

iii)Corp-corp

A Corporation pays the wages to the other Corporation or Vendor providing the workers

that mean employee will be working under the payroll of Vendor for the other Corporation

In short about Taxation...

3)Employee types

i)W2 Salaried

Offer benefits@subsidized rate, holiday, vocation 401k etc..

ii)W2 hourly

Offer benefits @ cost, no vocations, no holiday, no retirement plans..

iii)Sub contractor(Vendor)

no benefits

iv)1099

No Benefits (Independent Contractor)

Other than these you have to learn Regarding Time zones.....

All The Best
