Hi All,
If a declared holiday falls on saturday/sunday, then is it mandatory that we give another holiday in lieu of that.
For eg. we have 2nd Oct falling on saturday. Do we declare some other day(say 1st Nov, a day of celebration for Karnataka) as a holiday in lieu of 2nd Oct.
Regards,
Jyoti

Yes, that is what is usually done. You can also choose to add an extra day to employee’s casual leaves.

Hi
The normal trend is to compensate such a holiday by adding another holiday in the holiday list i.e. at the time of preparing the list at the beginning of the year itself, it can be seen which standard holidays are falling on saturday / sunday and an equivalent no of holidays for other occasions left out can then be added to the list. Of course it requires approvals etc but is fair to everyone.
Cheers

Hi, Generally the list of holidays is prepared at the beginning of the year. During that time the holidays which are falling on Sat & Sun are substituted by some other holidays. Enjoy, Divya
