Good morning everyone! We are Vietnam Manpower JSC located in Hanoi Capital of Vietnam. We provide workers from Vietnam to work abroad. At the moment, we have a lot of Vietnamese workers working for our clients overseas. They do quite well but I want to know the way to manage them better. Our workers normally work in a group of 10 to 20 workers with one foreman who can speak English well.
Could you please suggest to me anyway to manage them better when we are in Vietnam and they are working abroad? Having more managers there or regular contact with them to motivate them to work better. We always hope that our workers can work at the best performance and also be satisfied with the job.

To ensure that overseas workers are acting responsibly in the best of interest of the company
Some key things -
* Set the boundaries so that they understand when they can take a decisions and when they need to defer to corporate headquarters
* They need a comprehensive and clear understanding of the role that they are required to perform, targets that they are expected to meet & a regular, objective feedback
* Documentation need to be in place in terms of policies, procedures, authority limits, roles and responsibilities in order to reduce any confusion
* Knowing your international staff to feel absolutely confident that they will maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. It begins with careful selection, induction, training and company orientation
* Trusting your international staff that they are working in the interests of the company and to the best of their abilities.
* Maintain regular contact on a planned basis might be through e-mails, telephone calls or even videoconferencing
* Planned visits are equally useful but once you have made several & start to know your employees better it become less necessary provided that they hear from you regularly and preferably by voice as well as through written communication.
* Make sure they receive every ounce of communication that is distributed to your local employees .Overseas staff respond very positively to being involved in communication and decision-making
* Kept them involved and up-to-date with developments within the business. Also communicate across the business
* Add representatives from distant locations to working committees
* Acknowledged their successes, special efforts through rewards, appreciations
* Offer support when they are experiencing difficulties & challenges
* Remember them at a personal level, such as sending flowers on their Birthdays or celebrate a new arrival it makes a huge impact
* If a new member joins a country team, a telephone call to welcome them and wish them luck is warmly appreciated and helps them to establish a sense of belonging within the group.
* Be sensitive & liberal to local customs to maintain their respect, enthusiasm and commitment towards your company's objectives it is essential to demonstrate an adaptive approach by respecting and acknowledging local ways of behaviour, seeking local advice from someone who knows the territory
