Dear Seniors,

Greetings!!

My friend has done MBA (International Business Management) and working as EA to CEO in a leading infrastructure company since last 3 years in Ahmedabad. Now as pay scale is low and they have not given increment this year (reason they gave is "Market is down"). Now, he has got the opportunity in other company which is into a leading plastic manufacturing company. Now, MD has offered him two different roles (1) EA to MD & (2) Export marketing executive. MD told him that as he has done MBA in IB he should go into export thing where he will get learning. He has not offered much hike (only 2k hike on current monthly salary) and 2 years of bond is also there.

Now He is confused weather to switch career after 3 years of EA experience or not. If he stays in EA role what will be the future scope??

What will be the career growth in Export marketing??

I am posting this as he asked me my advise and I am also bit confused and want to know what Seniors have to say on this.

Regards

Dear Megha,

Though you have written in your second post that you have referred other posts on "Executive Secretary", yet I recommend you going through the replies of the following posts:

https://www.citehr.com/475592-workin...ml#post2103088

https://www.citehr.com/480499-career...assistant.html

https://www.citehr.com/419400-execut...-director.html

From my point of view, "Export Marketing Executive" is better than "Executive Assistant". In the current company, why he did not slip into some better designation? How can one remain Executive Assistant forever?

Of late, Managing Directors or Directors are lucky to get MBAs as their secretaries. All that they need to do is to label them as "Executive Assistant"

Ok...

Dear Mr. Dinesh,
Thanks for the reply. He has to give answer today itself. So, I am glad that you replied. I will surely pass him your massage. And he is working as EA to CEO in current company and his CEO is not allowing him to shift the department. Even directors are also not allowing this thing. Now, he is getting this opportunity in Export but the thing is he has to start it from fresher level and he is 29 so he was concerned that if I will start as fresher so he will be behind from many others of his age and salary is also less (15.5 K).
