I am working as a HR in Manufacturing Industry in Bangalore. One of our employee has attained the age of 58 years & he is covered under the Gratuity Act 1972. So can anybody tell me what is the process & documents/forms to pay gratuity to an employee. So please help me in this regard. I will be waiting for your reply.

There is no need of any document.If eligible it is the duty of employer to pay gratuity with in 30 days of retirement. Varghese Mathew 09961266966

From employer side any proof should be kept for paying gratuity to an employee, Regarding Calculation & payment of gratuity amount, In case we need to show to any govt. officers. Thanking you Vikas

As per gratuity act, the employee needs to apply for gratuity in the specified form (Form I)
The employer needs to compute gratuity and pay the same, with details provided in Form J
Even if the employee does not apply, the employer should still pay the same within 30 days from the separation.
Its a good idea to keep the relevant forms, signed copy of the settlement sheets and working for future reference.
