Hello Raghvendra

You must have heard of global warming. The eco balance has been under serious threat by the industrial pollutants and the carbon emissions from auto mobiles and from many other creatures of comfort which man has created for himslef. It has been universlly recognised now that citizens to corporates, all have the responsibility to do their bit to protect and sustain environment. The corporates have assumed it as their corporate social responsibilty (CSR) to implement inititives to sustain and improve environment. In order to imrove their image in CSR which enahances their brand in society and market, corporates subject themselevs to evaluating their performance not only in financial terms but also in terms of their CSR.What better tool can there be than HRM for corporates to implement the green inititives to develop and inculcate green sense responsibilty. Therefore the HRM initiatives/practices/policies that go to drive the green sense of responsibity can collectively be called green HRM.

Some examples of green HRM practices/initiatives are:

1)Discouraging the use of paper in filing and office work by making use of technology like adopting digital filing.

2) Pooling of cars for tarnsporting executives to minimise fuel consumption and carbon emissions or even encouraging cycling among employees to commute to office, wherever possible..

3) Switching off lights and using Sun light during day time wherever possible. Some corporates may adopt green architecture in building their offices that allows bright Sun light into work place.

4)Srict implementation of smoking free premises.

5)Anouncing rewrads for employees for green ideas

6) Conducting tree planting camps for employees

7) Educating employees on safe disposal of electronic waste or bio-medical waste etc.

Hope this gives some idea.
