In case if you had taken permission for going on leave for ten long days then those leave days can be compensated with your credited Casual leave or Privileged leave balance. and declared holidays will not be considered for these leaves.
But only in case you had been on leave without any prior permission then your continued leave will be considered as absent and also the declared holidays/weekly off which may come between your absent days also considered as absent.

As far as what I have been able to deduce is -
Any holidays / weekly offs falling between the period of availed leaves will be considered as a leave (except in case where privileged or earned leaves have been availed.)
However, many companies are trying to consider the weekly offs as weekly offs and don't count it in leaves to have better employee engagement.
Again it depends on the type of people, nature of business etc.
Ideal practice is to count holiday as a leave and deduct the same from leave balance or deduct salary for those days as well.
However if you feel that employees would be better motivated if we give them the benefit of leaves excluding the holidays.... and they would not abuse the facility... you can give the facility.

If any employee proceeds on
long leave availing earned/prevelege leave, the
intervening holidays/weekly
offs will be counted while
calculating the leave period
snd they are to be paid. Any holidays/weekly offs prefixing/suffixing will not be counted as leave and they are to be paid.
Hope it is clear.
