Namaste,
I have made the list of public holidays list for 2013 for my organisation.
There are some holidays which fall on SUNDAY.
My query is : Should there be compensation holiday for these public holidays on the preceding Saturday
Requesting you to share your views.
I have attached the list for your reference.

Dear Bharat, A public holiday on Sunday is rarely compensated with an off on a week/working day. However , declaring benefits for your employees , remains a prerogative to your organisation.

Compensating may not be practical. It is normally 10 days of holidays in a year. You can look at declaring 10 holidays which fall on week days.

Dear Ms. Joshi,
No. of public holidays depends on the organisation. Normal practise is to give 10 holidays in a year, you can choose the holidays which are on week days. Compensating for a holiday falling on a weekends is not practical.

Hi Bharati,
Holidays falling on Sundays. This is not the first time such a thing happened. There is no provision in rules for compensation of such Holidays. It is the prerogative of the type of the Organisation and its management.
Thank you.
